How to Make an IPhone Ringtone

With most mobile phones, you don’t have to create ringtones, you can literally take any .mp3 file, transfer it to your mobile and assign it as a ringtone. Well, actually, the chances are, you’ll already have mp3 files on your handset, which you can just assign as a ringtone. Most modern day mobiles also allow you to assign different ringtones to different contacts.

Apple however, decided that it wouldn’t be quite so simple with the iPhone. Why? Heaven knows, Apple like to be different, control freaks perhaps. The iPhone takes .m4r files, that are 30 seconds in length or less.

You need to find an mp3 to m4r convertor online, there are many choices for free. But please make sure you crop the iPhone ringtones to 30 seconds or less, otherwise your efforts will be in vain. Nothing over 30 seconds will work on the iPhone. I guess realistically, you don’t need more than 30 seconds for a ringtone, but it’s still an inconvenience.
